Apple Brazil: Two Official Apple Stores in Sao Paulo, Brazil in December 2007 and March 2008?

IDGNow! reports that according to an interview given to “Valor Economico” on 11/20/2007 the President of two upscale shopping centers, Carlos Jereissati Filho, has confirmed the opening of two Official Apple Stores in Sao Paulo, Brazil. According to Carlos Jereissati Filho, who is president of the “Iguatemi Company of Shopping Centers”, one store will open still in December of 2007 and another in March of 2008.

The first store will be opened (according to this interview) in one of the most expensive locations in Sao Paulp: Shopping Iguatemi. It is also home to the most expensive fashion and jewelery stores like Emporio Armani, Prada etc. The second store will be located in Shopping Marketplace, also an upscale mall, but more accessible in pricing to middle class shoppers.

Questioned, neither IESC nor Apple wanted to make any statements, according to IDG Now!. Read Article.

Considering the source of this information I believe this to be a likely scenario for Apple in Brazil, even though the timeline seems to be very fast, it is very possible considering the choice of locations and the source.

Only last week Apple partnered with Supermarket chain “extra” who is owned by the “Pao de Acucar” Group introducing the first official Apple Store-in-Stores at their Itaim location. The store is open until 10pm every day.

Another blogger called the Marketplace Shopping Center Administration and received confirmation in 3 phonecalls that an Apple Store will open still in 2007. Though not to be considered official, 3 different people confirmed this when he called within the building that Apple has offices in. Read in portuguese and listen to the phonecalls.

This did not happen as it was announced. It turned out to be the “a2you” Apple Shops. There will be official store-in stores at FNAC as well according to the latest news.
