This is just incredible. The february of 2009 is showing me two times the 14th in iCal, then followed by monday the 16th. So what happened to the 15th? Am I going to skip a day and how do I mark it? Who else has this in their iCal? Apparently I am not alone, with this. A few of my friends confirmed they have the same problem showing.

I was astonished when iPhoto ’09 worked through my almost 10 thousand photos and recognized one of my dogs as a human face. In fact, I am guessing that, because this shot is kind of frontal, it recognized it as a human face. No problem with that. My dogs are part of the family and in fact I love the fact the application is recognizing their faces. The face of this dog looks quite human indeed…. :-)

Claro added the iPhone to their web site store:
Depending on the plan you chose you receive a discount on your phone bill, but you do NOT pay effectively less for the actual iPhone when you sign up. The base price for the 8GB model is R$1999 (ca. $1079) and for the 16GB R$2299 (ca. $1241). The higher your monthly plan the more discount you get back on your pill divided up in 12x.
So for example if you go with the basic plan the discount starts at R$299,50 that will be subtracted in 12 installments from your monthly phone bill and from the value of your monthly plan. Quite interesting.

Vivo (vivo.com.br) is offering the following plans:
R$71 (ca. $39) – 50 minutes, 250MB internet and 100 SMS (valid for 30 days), 50 minutes from vivo to vivo and you will pay for the 8GB iPhone itself R$1499 (ca. $822) and for the 16GB R$1789 (ca. $982)

Claro had made known that it was holding a stock of 30000 iPhones and Vivo announced a stock of 200000 available devices.
With Claro the iPhone sells from R$1000 to R$2600 (ca. $548 – $1240), depending on the monthly plan.
Vivo is selling it with a basic price of R$899 (ca. $494) for the 8GB model and R$1199 (ca. $660) for the 16GB model for those who sign up with the maxed out so called “Total Plan” (Plano total).
For the launch of the iPhone the cellphone providers Claro and Vivo dispute the market by themselves, for now.

As of early this morning the iPhone 3G plans have been revealed on Claro’s website (claro.com.br) and the iPhone is for sale at all Claro stores nationwide.
A press release mentions the iPhone will be available starting from R$41.67 (ca. $23) per month. (Wow! .. if this is true).

Looks like we just got confirmation through Apple’s Brazil website (http://www.apple.com/br/iphone/buy/) that Brazilian mobile operator Claro is bringing the iPhone to the brazilian market tomorrow on Friday September 26, 2008. The “Where to Buy” page states that the iPhone is “already available at all Claro stores around the country.”

A release date for the iPhone in Brazil was leaked as September 26, 2008 by GSM cellphone provider vivo. Also a pricelist from an internal memo leaked, as you can see below, and I must say: the pricing is simply outrageous. Now my hope is that competing provider Claro will have lower prices or I will stick with my w580i and go with an iPod touch.
Note: on the basic 50 minutes plan the iPhone would cost an equivalent of $819. Insanity. Let’s see if this proves to be true or not.

Cellphone operator Claro promised the iPhone for September 2008 and said it is taking R$100 deposits from previously registered people who showed interest in being notified about news through their site.
I went to a Claro store on sunday and tried offering them R$100 to make a reservation for an iPhone, but interestingly no one there wanted my money nor knew what the hell I was talking about. One salesperson at the store told me the company would approach people via phone or email about this.
Well, so far nothing. Lets see.
